Single-mode composite optical fiber

Single-mode fibers, also known as monomode fibers, are optical fibers designed to support only a single propagation mode per polarization direction at a given wavelength. This means they can transmit light without interference from other modes, making them ideal for long-distance. In fiber-optic communication, a single-mode optical fiber, also known as fundamental- or mono-mode, is an optical fiber designed to carry only a single mode of light - the transverse mode. To transmit signals through single mode patch cable, a laser light source is commonly used. Higher-order modes like LP 11, LP 20 etc. Glass or plastic are often used to make these fibers. This small core lets only one light path go through. Single mode fiber can carry more data than multimode fiber.
