H3CS3600 Access Switch Configuration

H3C S3600 switches can be configured via CLI or web interface to manage VLANs, ports, IP addresses, security, and advanced features like 802.1x authentication and PoE.Basic Configuration
  1. Accessing the Switch
    • Connect via console port or SSH.
    • Log in using default credentials or previously configured accounts.
    • Enter system view mode using the system-view command.
  2. Port Configuration
    • Assign ports to VLANs: interface GigabitEthernet 1/0/1 → port link-type access → port default vlan 10.
    • Configure trunk ports: port link-type trunk → port trunk permit vlan 10 20 30.
    • Enable port security and binding if needed: port-security enable and mac-address static.
  3. VLAN Setup
    • Create VLANs: vlan 10 → name Sales.
    • Assign ports to VLANs as access or trunk.
    • Configure management VLAN for switch access: vlan 1 → interface Vlan-interface 1 → ip address 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0.
  4. IP Address and Routing
    • Assign IP addresses to VLAN interfaces for management or routing.
    • Configure static routes or dynamic routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP) as required.
Security Features
  • 802.1x Authentication
    • Enable port-based access control: dot1x enable.
    • Configure authentication server (RADIUS) and define authentication policies.
    • Supports EAPoL for client authentication ( ).
  • Port Isolation and Access Control
    • Use port isolation to restrict communication between ports.
    • Configure ACLs to control traffic flow.
Advanced Features
  • Link Aggregation
    • Combine multiple physical ports into a single logical link: interface Bridge-Aggregation 1 → link-aggregation group 1.
  • PoE Management
    • Enable PoE on supported ports: interface GigabitEthernet 1/0/1 → poe enable.
    • Configure PoE profiles for power allocation.
  • DHCP and VLAN Services
    • Configure DHCP server or relay: dhcp enable → ip pool VLAN10.
    • Set up voice VLANs for IP phones.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance
    • Use commands like display interface, display vlan, display mac-address for diagnostics.
    • Configure SNMP, RMON, and logging for network monitoring.
    • Backup and restore configuration files using save and startup saved-configuration.
Best Practices
  • Always configure a management VLAN separate from user VLANs.
  • Use strong authentication and enable 802.1x for secure access.
  • Regularly back up configuration files and monitor switch logs.
  • Apply firmware updates to maintain security and feature support. For detailed command syntax and step-by-step procedures, refer to the H3C S3600 Series Operation Manual and Command Manual ( ). These manuals provide comprehensive guidance for both basic and advanced configurations, including examples for VLANs, routing, security, and PoE management.
